A continuous roll gives an installer flexibility, but it also moves cutting risk from the supplier to the project. If a survey becomes one total square-metre figure, the team can lose track of panel direction, fixing allowances, planned seams and the opening each cut belongs to. The order should begin with a panel schedule, not a single roll-length guess.
The stainless-steel wire-reinforced cat net is available for retail cut sizes or continuous-roll supply for installation companies. The documented structure choices include 12+1, 15+3 and 18+6, with a 1.0 mm strand and 30 × 30 mm mesh. Select that product structure before calculating cuts because different structures should never be mixed on one anonymous schedule.
Turn Every Opening Into Its Own Row
Give each balcony, window, stair boundary or terrace section a stable opening ID. Record the measured width and height, shape, fixing substrate, corner count, obstacle positions, access panel need and survey revision. Add a sketch or elevation reference so the cutting team can see which edge is top and which side faces the room.
Nominal opening dimensions are not automatically cut dimensions. Edge returns, fastening method, tensioning approach and site trimming depend on the installer and substrate. Put those allowances in separate columns and require the responsible installer to approve them. That prevents a hidden blanket allowance from being applied to every opening.

Place Seams Before Calculating the Roll
Mark any panel that exceeds the agreed practical cut width or requires a joint around a corner, beam or access point. The seam location must be visible on the elevation and approved for that specific boundary. A seam should not be improvised on site merely because the roll was cut short.
Build a cut list in roll order. For each cut, show opening ID, panel ID, finished orientation, approved cut length, quantity and any paired piece. Then add the planned trim or handling allowance as an explicit line. The supplier can quote the requested roll scope, while the installer retains responsibility for the site-derived allowance.
Keep Structure, Color and Kit Scope on Every Label
A panel label should carry the project, opening ID, panel ID, mesh structure, color, cut dimensions, survey revision and pack number. The accessory kit should use the same opening ID. If hooks, plugs, rope or cable ties are supplied as a kit, identify whether they are sourced accessories and confirm the quantity against the approved fixing plan.
Wire-reinforced netting may be ordered in black, olive green, beige or white, and the 12+1, 15+3 and 18+6 structures are not interchangeable descriptions. A label that says only “black cat net” is therefore inadequate for a mixed project.
Reconcile Offcuts Without Hiding Shortfalls
After cutting, record the actual remaining length and keep the parent roll or batch identity with each usable remnant. A leftover piece can be reassigned only when its structure, color, dimensions and condition suit a named opening. Small or damaged offcuts should not be counted as available project stock.
Before dispatch, compare the roll issue record, cut list, panel labels, accessory kits and pack list. Resolve any difference by opening ID. This is far easier than finding an unlabeled panel at an occupied installation site.
